Special Teacher at Gustaf Adolf School
Are you passionate about being part of children's language, reading, and writing development? Do you want to work in a school where student health, collaboration, and development are an integral part of everyday life? Then you could be our new special teacher at Gustaf Adolf School.
Who are we?
Gustaf Adolf School is a F–6 school with after-school care and 10–12 activities, centrally located with proximity to both the city's offerings and nature and green areas. The school was built in 1897 and offers generous and inspiring learning environments for both primary school and after-school activities. Approximately 200 students attend our school, and we are about 35 dedicated educators who together take responsibility for the students' learning, development, and safety.
The health-promoting and preventive work of student health permeates our entire operation. We work in teams and see collaboration as a prerequisite for a good working environment and high quality in teaching.
At Gustaf Adolf School, we are each other's working environment, which means we work professionally, trusting each other's competence, and with a shared focus on the students' best interests. The school's development work is led by the school management in close cooperation with lead teachers, student health, and pilots within the organization.
Your responsibilities
As a special teacher focusing on language, reading, and writing development, you play a central role in the school's student health work. In close collaboration with lead teachers, teachers, and special educators, you plan, map, analyze, and follow up on students' language, reading, and writing development. You contribute to developing and implementing structures that ensure all students have good conditions to develop their language, reading, and writing. An important part of the assignment is to systematically follow up on results and development needs and to contribute with preventive and promotional efforts within the framework of student health.
You conduct in-depth assessments and serve as a natural support in matters concerning further investigations and potential contacts with, for example, speech therapists. Guidance and support to the teaching staff are a natural part of your assignment, as is close collaboration with guardians to create good conditions for each student. You are part of the school's student health team together with special educators, counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, and the principal, where you all contribute different professional perspectives.
Who are you?
We are looking for a licensed special teacher with a focus on language, reading, and writing development. You have good knowledge of language development, reading and writing difficulties, and interventions that make a difference for students in need of support.
You are analytical and structured, but also creative and solution-focused in your work. You feel confident using digital tools to support assessment and pedagogical work.
Previous experience as a special teacher, working with students in need of special support, experience from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas, and knowledge of second language development are meritorious.
As a person, you are secure and stable and have an easy time building good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You have good pedagogical skills where you inspire, support, and motivate students while setting clear and high expectations.
You are driven by development and use your creativity to create inclusive and stimulating learning environments. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues, guardians, and external actors.
You have a holistic perspective where you make decisions based on the best interests of the entire organization, have the ability to prioritize, and do not hesitate to seek support from your colleagues to contribute to a sustainable and healthy working environment. You are well acquainted with applicable governing documents for primary school and after-school care, actively work for equal value for all, and contribute with your positive attitude to both increased goal fulfillment and increased well-being at Gustaf Adolf School.
The position requires very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
